In October, SIA “Kurzemes filharmonija” offers to enjoy the diverse world of music at events in the concert hall “Latvija” and the theater house “Jūras vārti”, and even be present at a discussion of today's most powerful thinkers.
New Riga Theatre in the performance "Žižek. Peterson. Duel of the Century" depicts a clash of ideas between two of today's most powerful public intellectuals – Slovenian philosopher Slavoj Žižek and Canadian clinical psychologist Dr. Jordan Peterson – who at the theater house "Jūras vārti" it will be possible to follow October 12 at 7:00 p.m. A few years ago, they held a public debate in Toronto, which was advertised as the intellectual duel of the century. However, this confrontation did not happen, as both chose peaceful tactics, but JRT plays out the intellectual clash that everyone expected and did not expect at the time.
October 13 at 19.00 12 will perform on the stage of the concert hall "Latvija". Jury experts of the International Riga Young Pianists Competition, piano virtuosos, offering the audience a vibrant piano music program. The concert will feature Italian pianist Giulio Bidau, London-based Ukrainian artist Olga Palija, Polish pianist Slawomir Vilks, and internationally recognized Latvian pianist Arta Arnicāne.
The next concert of the cycle "Return to Ventspils" will be held at the concert hall "Latvija" October 18 at 7:00 p.m. This time, together with the Ventspils Chamber Orchestra and the mixed choir “Ventspils”, soloists with three such different musical instruments will perform – Reinis Tomiņš (marimba), Maksims Beitāns (cello) and Aigars Reinis (organ). Conductor – Aigars Meri. The concert program includes Rihards Dubra’s “Light of Eternal Longing” Concerto for marimba and string orchestra, Valtis Pūce’s “Psalms Notebook”, Pēteris Plakids’ “Pasticcio à la Rossini” and Marģers Zariņš’s “Divertimeno” for organ and timpani. The concert will be conducted by musicologist, “Radio Klasika” personality Liene Jakovļeva.

On October 21st at 4:00 PM, the Latvian Concert Hall invites you to a musical gathering. Daumants Kalniņš and Ventspils Big Band. Daumants Kalniņš's author's evening will feature the singer and composer's original works, as well as beloved songs in Latvian and English. The pieces have been arranged and adapted for big band with vocals.
October 25 at 7:00 PM The Keno Harryhausen Quartet will perform in the small hall of the “Latvija” concert hall, excitingly merging the traditions of jazz and chamber music. The quartet’s compositions are inspired by a wide range of 20th-century sound art classics, various layers of folklore and other sources of inspiration. This international quartet brings together musicians from Germany, the Netherlands and Latvia. It includes saxophonist Kārlis Auziņš, cellist Maija Frīdmane (Maya Fridman), double bassist Andris Mainigs (Andris Meinig) and pianist Keno Harryhausen (Keno Harriehausen).
October 26 at 7:00 p.m. at the theater house “Jūras vārti” the musical performance-tribute of M. Chekhov’s Riga Russian Theater “Here it is!” will be performed, which was inspired by the leader of the rock band "Kino" Viktor Tsoi and his work. The theater has received the rights to use the music they created in a single performance, which will include 20 songs performed by theater artists, combining the song plots into a polyphonic narrative.
