On January 20 at 5:00 PM, an event dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the 1991 barricade defenders will be held at the Town Hall Square, with bonfires lit, inviting everyone to commemorate the significant events in Latvian history that symbolize the unity, courage, and patriotism of the people.
During the event, a solemn oath-taking ceremony for the Young Guards will take place, confirming the young generation's readiness to protect Latvia's independence and values.
The head of the Seaside Open-Air Museum, National Guard Artūrs Tukišs, will share a historical story about the 1991 barricade period, patriotism, and national unity. Meanwhile, National Guard members of the 46th Infantry Battalion of the National Guard will offer warm tea to visitors for their well-being.
Soloists from the pop studio "Jūras akmentiņi" will perform with musical performances.
