“PAUKERS” handicraft group of Ance
The “Paukers” handicraft group of Ance was founded in 1996, and has been actively working in the Ance Manor since 2009, keeping the traditions of ancestors alive and gladly passing them on by:
- knitting socks, gloves, scarves, sweaters;
- embroideing sofa cushions, blankets, tablecloths;
- weaving blankets, towels, rugs, bookmarks;
- creating toys and articles of wood.
The event “Craftsman’s Swarm” was established by the members of “Paukers”, taking place annually in Ance around the Jete Day already since 2007. Artisans from near and far are invited to get together and demonstrate their skills and achievements.
On the Latvian scale, the works have been exhibited at the Ethnographic Open-Air Museum in Riga, the Kipsala Exhibition Hall “Intertekstil Balticum”. The knitters of “Paukers” knitted mittens for the NATO Summit guests in Riga and have also participated in the exhibitions of various scale in Estonia, Poland, Sweden and Norway.
Classes take place in the manor every Wednesday at 12:00.
Every visitor of the manor has the opportunity to see a handicraft exhibition/sale, participate in a workshop and get involved in learning various craft skills.
