Nautical school in Jūrkalne (Fēliksberga) was opened in 1871 – when the reform of nautical education took place – and was functioning in former Pilsberģe manor house. Fēliksberga nautical school gave the educational establishment diploma of which provided the qualification of coastal helmsman. Total number of farmers and fishermen who have studied in this school was 350. Mostly those were from nearby area. More that 70 of them passed cabotage (coastal helmsman) exam.
